MFPD PSA – Scott Breathing Apparatus
Yesterday the Fire District received 15 new Scott self-contained breathing apparatus and 30 high pressure air cylinders valued at $100,000. The equipment was received from a regional FEMA grant hosted by the Pioneer Fire District. Georgetown FD also received breathing apparatus. The state-of-the-art gear upgrades our current Scott breathing apparatus and gives our firefighters a better measure of safety for structure fires and other hazardous situations where breathing apparatus is required.

CAL FIRE AEU – RED FLAG WARNING THROUGH 11:00 A.M. WEDNESDAY
Due to the predicted northerly winds and increased temperatures, the National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning through at least 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25th. The risk of a destructive fire is high.
Please avoid the use of gas-powered equipment, lawnmowers, metal grinders or any activity that may spark a fire during the Red Flag Warning.

MFPD PSA – No Burn Days Burn Permits Suspended – MFPD approved post
No outside debris burning for 5/19 through 5/22 due to winds and dry vegetation.

The increasing fire danger due to continued drought and hotter, drier conditions in the region is prompting CAL FIRE to suspend all burn permits for outdoor residential burning within the State Responsibility Areas of Alpine, Amador, El Dorado.

MFPD took possession of a new portable tank for water supply when there are no hydrants around. It becomes a static water supply for water tenders to dump into. A fire engine or water tender would draft from this tank and supply other engines and hose lines fighting fire. The tank was purchased new for $1,600 with the District’s Rural Fire Capacity Grant through Cal Fire. The district has also been able to obtain wildland safety equipment (personal protective gear and tools) for our firefighters through the grant program.
